eoSemi has a patent-pending for an all-silicon replacement for quartz crystal references utilising standard CMOS process technology. eoTechnology™ will reduce the size of providing a timing reference by at least 50% and, in some instances, by 90%.
Costs reduction will be of the same magnitude and future costs will follow semiconductor cost curves rather than those of mature quartz crystal manufacturing processes, producing even greater savings.
eoSemi is developing silicon-only kHz timing references and derivative products for industrial and microcontroller systems and will expand its offering into the mobile market using eoTechnology. There is even potential for a single device to be programmable for multi-frequency operation.
Patent IP is under global application, and a proof-of-concept chip has demonstrated that the eoTechnology performs to specification.
